There are many different marbles of color from Italy. The entire penisula was pushed up by continental shift from what once was an ancient sea floor. Those ancient sea beds were covered with the shells and bones of ancient sea life which later became the basis for the formation of so many marbles. Since the times of the Etruscans and the Greeks who built colonies in Italy nearly 3000 years ago, the ready availability of beautiful marbles has made Italy unique in world architecture, to our eternal gain!Below are just some of the many examples of the types of marble available.
